Sir Jimmy Savile presents a cheque

Sir Jimmy Savile presents a cheque for AOS to QE2
hotel manager John Duffy.

AOS GB is delighted to receive a donation of £1000 from supporter Sir Jimmy Savile OBE KCSG. Sir Jimmy made his generous donation while taking a cruise onboard the QE2. As a regular passenger, Sir Jimmy attends the daily Mass celebrated by the AOS cruise ship chaplain.

A much-loved television personality and DJ, Sir Jimmy is also known for his charitable work. He has run numerous marathons to raise money for good causes. In 1990, he was knighted in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. In the same year, he was honoured by the Pope who made him a Knight Commander of St Gregory.

A former Bevin Boy, drafted to work in the coalmines during World War Two, Sir Jimmy was later credited as the inventor of "bling". His fondness for gold jewellry, flamboyant tracksuits and large cigars has made him one of the most recognisable personalities in Britain today. AOS GB is delighted to have his support.

AOS GB places specially trained priests onboard cruise ships to offer pastoral care to passengers and crew.
