Dover

AOS is the only seafarers' welfare agency currently active in the port of Dover. Retired immigration officer Joe Johnston is a volunteer ship visitor in the port. During the week he visits the crews of reefers, i.e. refrigerated cargo ships which carry cargoes such as fruit and vegetables, dairy products and meat. Crews have usually spent some 12 to 14 days at sea and welcome a visit from AOS.
