The chaplain's office and seafarers' resource room are regularly used by visiting seafarers. Port chaplain Louise Carter is onhand for those who want to talk and supplies of warm clothing are available. Louise says
"It is clearly important to seafarers to be able to use the phone somewhere that is quiet, comfortable and clean, unlike using the phone on the wharf which is dirty and cold and the roar of passing lorries is an unavoidable intrusion on the fleeting intimacy of speaking to the family".
