On 19 September we are asking our parish contacts, volunteers and supporters to organise the first AOS Seafood Lunch to raise funds for AOS. We will be holding our own special lunch in the office on 19 September inviting friends and relatives and we hope you will do the same.
You can host your lunch anywhere, maybe at church, in a park, at home or at work. You could ask colleagues to bring a packed lunch instead of buying one and donate the money saved to AOS. We can supply posters and invitations which you could send to parishioners, friends and family. We also have donation forms and other materials to help you run a successful lunch. And do not worry if you cannot organise your lunch on 19 September, you can hold it on any day in September convenient to you.
Ninety-five per cent of British imports and exports travel by sea. You could serve almost anything at lunch, including seafood, to highlight the fact that so many foods are transported by sea. To keep costs down, keep your lunch simple, maybe soup and a bread roll or sandwiches. You could ask each person for a minimum donation of £5.00. If each volunteer managed to raise £30.00 at their lunch, this would support the work of a chaplain in a port for six months.
If you would like to get involved in the first AOS Seafood Lunch please contact Volunteer Co-ordinator Annabel Lotsu on 0207 012 8602 to request your information pack or download materials here.
