Gdynia, Christmas 2006

At the Stella Maris Centre in Gdynia, Poland, Father Edward Pracz and his team entertained seafarers at a Christmas party.

Seafarers from around the world shared food and drink. Musicians in traditional Polish costumes entertained them with carols and local customs such as "playing the Devil's violin". There was laughter as guests tried the local practice of "taking snuff", i.e. sniffing powdered tobacco.

There was joy for this Ukrainian couple pictured with Fr Edward. The husband is a Chief Engineer onboard ship. His wife had travelled from Kiev to spend Christmas with him in Gdynia.
