Blyth, Christmas 2006
At the port of Blyth in England, 300 bags of Christmas presents were distributed among visiting seafarers.
The bags were filled with useful items and some small luxuries. These included soap, razors, toothpaste, baseball caps, key rings, fridge magnates, chocolate, bookmarks and prayer cards. Also in the bags were woolly hats, beautifully knitted by AOS supporters.
AOS port chaplain Austin Dolan and his daughter Joyce Starbuck received valuable help in preparing the bags from the children of the local Youth SVP.
The bags were distributed around 25 December and again a week later when seafarers from Eastern Europe were celebrating Christmas in the Orthodox calendar.
